I want to treat my kauri
Treatment of trees can only occur if you have confirmed kauri dieback on your property.
The first step is to check around your kauri for symptoms of kauri dieback. The most obvious symptom to look for is bleeding around the base of the tree such as shown in the photos below.

The second thing to look for is canopy decline. To look for this assess the canopy to see if it is thinning or yellowing. Healthy kauri should have a full canopy with a deep green colour. Examples of canopy decline are shown below.
If any of these symptoms are present you can fill in and submit the form below to arrange and inspection of the kauri. During the inspection if symptoms of kauri dieback are confirmed then a soil sample will taken. Analysis of the soil is what is used to confirm kauri dieback is present at the site.
Auckland/Northland/Waikato Regional Councils carry out inspections in their respective regions and soil samples are sent to Plant & Food Research for analysis. The process takes 6-8 weeks to complete. Councils offer this service free of charge and cover the cost of the analysis as in-kind support for the Kauri Rescue project.
Any data collected about affected trees is used only to enable the Council to understand the extent of dieback disease at a suburb/regional level and not at an individual property level. Only the Council and Plant & Food Research have access to this data and no individual information is passed to any other parties.
If you wish to have an inspection but do not wish to have your Council carry it out, a Kauri Rescue team member can do this, but a $300 charge will need to be covered by the property owner to cover the costs of the complex analysis that is required.
Please fill in the form below if you would like an inspection and please indicate if you are happy for the Council to collect the sample or you wish to cover the analysis costs. Don't forget to click the 'Submit' button to send your request to Kauri Rescue.
