Kauri Rescue:  2 years on - a citizen science science success story

Join us to find out about the Kauri Rescue Project and what we have achieved i
n protecting Kauri over the past two years.

Date:  Tuesday December 4th
Time: 7-9pm (includes coffee, tea and cake)
Venue:  Titirangi War Memorial Hall

The Kauri Rescue team of scientists, social scientists and community coordinators / facilitators will feed back to the Waitakere community in small presentations, interim results and outcomes from this citizen science project that has enabled the community to positively contribute to kauri dieback management.
  • Come and hear about how many people have engaged and how many trees have been treated.
  • Hear about the results so far...
  • Find out about how this project has provided a model for community engagement in biosecurity
  • And... importantly hear about where we will go from here.

We look forward to sharing the successes and the learnings of this important citizen science project with the community of the Waitakeres, who have been an integral part of making this project a success.

Anyone is welcome to attend.

Kauri Rescue recognised by community award

23/10/2018

The Kauri Rescue team were awarded a Judge's Commendation for the Rātā Award at the recent Love Your Place Awards hosted by Ecomatters and the Waitākere Ranges Local Board. The list of other groups in our category was immense and it was really inspiring to see so many people out there working so hard to protect the environment.

The citizens we work with, who are now playing instrumental roles in the running of the programme at the local level are the true winners of this award - particularly Dr Mels Barton and Ngaire Kingsbury and the many local ambassadors that are now enrolling in the programme and assisting with the monitoring and the promotion of the programme.

Kauri Rescue is a model for successful community engagement and the award is recognition and endorsement of our collaborative approach and we are truely honoured to have received it.
